How to know about WSIB claims?

An insight into WSIB

Workers’ rights have been the central issue since the beginning of industrialization. There are many problems that workers face at their workplace. But, work related injuries and accidents are something that can put the workers’ life at risk. There are many WSIB claims that are filed every year by injured workers. The WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) was established in the year 1914 in Ontario. The main agenda of this board is to prevent the possible workplace injuries, fatalities and illnesses. This agency is employer funded and oversees workplace safety, training system and the education system at the workplace.

Duties of the employer

The duties of employers depend upon the injury of the worker and the further consequences of the same. Such an accident need not be reported to the WSIB only if the employee just needs first aid. In other cases, it has to be reported within a time period of three days.

Duties of the employee

In case of an injury or sickness due to the workplace, the employee needs to get the basic first aid first and then report the incident to the employer. He can file for WSIB claims Ontario within a time period of six months. In case he develops any disease due to the injury or accident after six months, then he can file the claim later on.
The compensation made by WSIB is based on “no fault”.
